Paying it forward this Christmas and how you can, too (Giveaway)

Pura Vida Bracelets Christmas Tree

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone!

By now you may well be familiar with my affiliation with an organization called Pura Vida Bracelets, a California-based company which provides full-time employment for Costa Rican artisans and donates thousands of dollars annually to charity organizations and non-profit partners.  If you’re not, you can read my original post about them here.

Pura Vida Bracelets has recently partnered up with a new non-profit, the Amphibian Survival Alliance (ASA). The ASA are world leaders in amphibian conservation, research and education, and partner with organizations the world over in their mission to maintain or improve the conservation status of all amphibian species.  They protect and improve natural habitats, educate people and corporations on the importance of amphibians in maintaining healthy ecosystems, and provide decision-makers with conservation advice based on scientific research.

I was so excited to learn about this partnership; as a lifelong nature-lover and wannabe environmentalist (my childhood dream was to become a marine biologist) I take environmental conservation efforts very seriously.  On my recent travels, in Costa Rica especially, I’ve been awe-struck and inspired by the incredible biodiversity this planet has to offer and reminded that we must take responsibility to protect it.

Amphibian populations, due to their high sensitivity to change, suffer greatly at the hands of habitat loss, pollution, and climate change; as such, dwindling amphibian populations serve as a glaring indicator of the state of our planet’s health.  To learn more about why nearly one-third of the world’s amphibian species are in danger, click here.

To help combat this, Pura Vida Bracelets has created the “Leaping To The Rescue” bracelet pack as part of their Enviro-Causes collection; a portion of every purchase of this bracelet pack (20% of proceeds) is donated directly to the ASA in support of their ongoing conservation efforts.Amphibian Survival Alliance

Luckily for you guys, I recently received one of these packs and I’d like to pay it forward and gift it to one of you this Christmas, both as a thank you for your continued support and to thank you in advance for your future support of Pura Vida Bracelets.

    Awesome!

My husband and I just ran a fundraiser and bought 200+ winter clothing items for at-risk immigrants here in Moscow. We’re all envying your warm weather down there 🙂

Wow, that’s so awesome Polly!! Congrats on putting together such a successful fundraiser. I don’t think I could ever live somewhere as cold as Moscow, I love my warm-weather cities too much these days!

Still love these bracelets. It’s so awesome that they give to multiple charities; I had no idea. I contributed to the toy drive in downtown Raleigh, gave $20 to a really upset woman (possibly a con now that I think about it) in the K-Mart parking lot, and I swear I’m going to use my law degree to do some pro bono work in the coming year! My aunt is a marine biologist and she would totally be into these conservation efforts. It’s great that you’re working with such a proactive company.

Sounds like you are doing a lot to give back this year, that’s awesome Rachel! Well here’s hoping you finally get some bracelets, haha…your odds are looking pretty good! I sometimes wonder what happened to my ambitions to become a marine biologist…it’s sad how we just stop chasing our childhood dreams as we get older.

I had no idea that amphibians were so threatened. That makes me sad 🙁 I love companies like Pura Vida Bracelets that are socially and environmentally conscious. Not to mention that I love their bracelets!

It is sad!! Everything we are doing to this poor planet is sad…I wish there were more companies aiming to undo the damage. In the meantime, gotta support the ones that are!

I absolutely adore Pura Vida bracelets. They support so many fantastic organizations and last year I bought several people bracelets that were linked to causes they supported.

in 2015 I’m paying it forward by volunteering through all of Central America!

That is such a good idea, buying people bracelets that support causes they love! And that’s so awesome that you’ll be volunteering in Central America. Any specific type of organizations? Or just anywhere you can help out as you go? Giving back while traveling is so rewarding 🙂
