Greetings from Mexico City and happy Friday, everybody!
Today marks the conclusion of my first full week in Mexico, during which I’ve been exploring the city and surrounding area with Cantimplora Travel, a company guided by two passionate and creative locals. You might recall that I was originally planning to travel their Oaxaca/Pacific route, but plans changed and, well, here we are!
It has been an incredible week, though, and I’ve relished every moment getting to know this incredible, colossal, historical city. In a way, I’m happy things worked out as they did; otherwise, I might have skipped Mexico City altogether!
The itinerary that Cantimplora has put together includes many of the iconic, well-known sites such as Monumento a la Revolución and El Zócalo (the main square) but also takes travelers into lesser-known, hidden pockets of the city and on day trips to neighborhoods you might never discover on your own. We’ve seen art and architecture, sipped beer and mezcal, and tasted every type of taco and fried dish under the sun.
It’s hard for me to pick favorites out of all the things we’ve done and seen this week. It had a little bit of everything; in short, it was the perfectly well-rounded trip.
My time in Mexico is still open-ended, but I do have my next destination already picked out and will be heading there on Saturday. I won’t give away too much today, but here’s a small hint: It’s on the beach! The loose plan is to spend another week or so catching up on work, sipping fresh coconut water on the beach, and celebrating my upcoming birthday in style! Following that, I’ll most likely make my way back to Washington to decompress from these last few fast-paced weeks of travel.
I hope you’re looking forward to reading more about my week in Mexico City with Cantimplora Travel, and in the meantime, please enjoy the first sneak peek at some of the incredible photography they’ve provided as a part of the tour package! Bernie is truly an artist!
I love exploring a city with locals, and that’s what you get on a tour of Mexico City with Cantimplora Travel! Have you ever experienced a curated tour like this?
